Day 136 - Accidental Snapshot, originally uploaded by clarity25.

This is an accidental snapshot that happened while I was adjusting the settings on my camera for today's self-portrait.

Then my camera battery died.

So that was it.

So this will have to do for today. I thought it was rather random and odd moment captured. It's not flattering But It gives you a glimpse into my home environment. That's our livingroom. Eric's trombone resting in the corner next to his shoes. Our sofa, the coffee table, the natural light..etc

Random question of the day:

For an all-expense-paid, one-week vacation anywhere in the world, would you be willing to kill a beautiful butterfly by pulling off it's wings?

What about stepping on a cockroach?

Eric and I were discussing this today...It's from a book of questions. Curious to see what other people's answers are...

Hi Clarity, This is the first time my computer has let me post a comment!

I wouldn't step on a roach because the bug man at my last job told me that if you step on a pregnant female the eggs shoot out and go everywhere. Since htey are pretty indestructible you can carry them toy our own house on your shoe and they are a bugger to get rid of. I wouldn't pull the wings off a butterfly for a week's paid holiday anywhere because it's cruel and it must hurt them. All through the holiday I'd be thinking how I got there and I'd hate it.

By the way I love the fact that you have a trombone in your living room!

now I am wondering what the intended photo was going to be :)

as for your questions, no answers... general ambivalence (and apathetic malaise, perhaps) and living in the moment (always the dichotomy) has the brain cells that ponder possibilities off for the moment...

I'd like to think I care enough to take no life as that actualizes the ideal I strive to live by (do not harm)...

but for the moment, I do not know what I would do given the possibilities... I'd be sad about that if I wasn't so ambivalent...

but still, I enjoy your journey through this year and thanbk you for continuing :)

My answers were going to be the same as Vicola's. No, to the butterfly because I abhor people who think it's acceptable to pull wings off bugs, beautiful or not. Although I would kill a mosquito for that same exotic vacation. And I found out recently that stepping on a cockroack leaves the eggs on your shoes, so although I would like to step on one, I wouldn't. I had a chance to step on one last year and as I went to step on it (before I know about the whole eggs sticking to your shoe thing), it came at me!!! It freaked me out, so I didn't do it.

And I had forgotten that Eric plays the trombone. When you come to Michigan, as I know you will at some point ;-), he must meet my 18-year-old cousin! He's going to college for trombone and he's apparently QUITE good!!!

Butterfly no, couldn't do it...wait does it have to be alive? Dead I would. Live never.

As for the cockroach. Yes, then I spray my shoes with roach killer.
I've had roaches before so I'm not that squimish when it comes to killing them, unless they are hiding and I move something and they are there.
Did you know that roaches don't like bay leaves? and if they eat baking soda they die?

Hello, my name is Robert... now that I'm not quite anonymous, I just wanted to tell you how amazing and incredible I think your blog is. I love the idea. I really adore the beautiful photographs. It feels like I'm watching a really good sitcom of some sort. Kudos to you, and I hope you continue!

Thanks everyone for your comments and for continuing to care and read this photoblog.

I haven't been on the internet as much as I used to, My connection is terrible and my life has been hectic lately.

It's so nice reading comments from my friends and feeling like I'm still in contact with those I care about through this medium.

When things calm down, I'm going to update my other diary with more intimate details about what's been going on "Behind the scenes". The drama with a certain someone is beginning to subside.

For now I just wanted to say thank you.

I hope everyone has been doing well and I look forward to catching up with everyone!

and THANK YOU Robert for visiting my photography blog and leaving such a kind comment. It really brightened my day.

Lots of love,
Clarity

P.S. I wouldn't pull the wings off a butterfly but sadly I'd crush a cockroach. Why do we have more compassion for beautiful creatures and less for ugly ones?...

something to ponder...

free trip, dead bug? Oh yeah a dead bug it is!! I didn't fight my way to the top of the food chain to not have a free trip at a bugs expense. Sorry, I am too poor to care about a bug.

I'd have to agree with Nightmare on this one. Pretty or not, it's still a bug. And some butterflies are poisonous anyway, so they can kill you. Or at least make your pets sick if they eat one. And the roach is fucking history.

I couldn't kill a person, or even a furry-type animal, for any reason.
