We decided to celebrate by going to "THE TONGA ROOM" in the Fairmount Hotel on Nobhill for the famous Happy Hour special. I've read about it in all the San Francisco Travelguides as a "Must see"
It was fun, but not as amazing as I expected.
The deal is a very "fancy buffet" for $9.50 BUT you also have to buy one drink.
Of course that "one drink" is crazy expensive. Between $7.50 and $9.00 for a single cocktail. So it's not much of a deal at all. The buffet is just a couple of spring rolls, salad, chips and fruit...
It's overpriced but the atmosphere is unique. It looks like the set of an Indiana Jones movie and there are simulated rain storms about every 15 minutes. Rain, lightening. thunder..etc.
Not really a "must see" -- but interesting. Different.....
Anyone else been to the Tonga Room? What did you think?
